How to convert image text to text
Three steps to turn image text into editable, copyable text — no account needed, no software to install.
Add an image with text
Drag your photo, screenshot or scanned document onto the drop zone, click "Choose images" to browse, or paste from the clipboard with ⌘V / Ctrl+V. Up to 20 images per batch.
Select the text language
Pick the language of the text in the image — English is selected by default, with 30 languages available. Choosing the right language helps the OCR engine handle non-Latin scripts accurately.
Copy or download the extracted text
Each image generates an editable text box with a confidence score. Click Copy text for the clipboard, Download .txt for a single file, or Download all to save every result at once.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I turn image text to text I can edit?
- Drop or paste the image on this page, pick the language the text is in, and the OCR engine extracts editable text in seconds. You can copy it to your clipboard or download a .txt file.
- Which image formats can I use?
- JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF, up to 25 MB each. Any format produced by a phone camera, screenshot tool or document scanner will work.
- Is the conversion free and unlimited?
- Yes. There is no usage cap, no watermark and no account required. The OCR engine runs in your browser, so there is no server cost to limit.
- Does my image get uploaded to a server?
- No. Everything runs locally in your browser via WebAssembly. No image data is sent, stored or logged anywhere. Closing the tab clears all in-memory data.
- Can I convert multiple images at once?
- Yes — up to 20 images in a single batch. They are processed one by one, and you can copy or download all results together when they finish.
- What languages does the OCR support?
- 30 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Ukrainian, Turkish and Hebrew.
- How accurate is converting image text to text?
- Clean printed text typically scores above 90% confidence. Each result shows its confidence score so you can spot-check anything uncertain. Blurry photos or decorative fonts lower accuracy.
- Does the tool work offline?
- Yes. After the OCR engine (~3 MB) and the language pack download once, everything is cached. You can disconnect from the internet and the tool continues to work.
How image text recognition works
When you drop an image on this page, the browser decodes it, scales it to the resolution range the OCR model was trained on, and feeds it to Tesseract 5 — the proven open-source recognition engine, compiled to WebAssembly so it runs at near-native speed inside your browser tab.
The engine locates lines, words and characters, then returns plain text along with a confidence score for each image. Results appear in editable boxes so you can correct any misread character before copying or downloading.
The first conversion takes a few extra seconds while the engine (~3 MB) and the chosen language pack (0.5–4 MB) download. Both are cached by your browser, so later images process immediately — and the tool works fully offline after that initial load.

Your images stay private
All text recognition runs entirely on your device. No image is transmitted, stored or logged — the only downloads are the OCR engine and the language pack you selected. Closing the tab releases all in-memory copies.
